Woolly Rainbow Sheep

IMG_20160127_203727

Knit me a rainbow
Paint me a tune
Color me a sheep
And see you soon

Just a random poem for a Wednesday.

Happy creating everyone!

Abstract Christmas

image

The fun thing about abstracts is you can decide what it is afterwards.

I still had the over-blending issue but the ensuing brown looks quite earthy and you just have to remember to let it dry a bit before adding color over the top and then don’t move the canvas about.

Here’s an earlier stage:

After watching a few videos of artists painting yesterday, an overriding factor was not giving up when you think you’ve made a mess of it.

Even the best ones go wrong often.

Happy Sunday!

Fluid Acrylics Abstract

image

I had to try out my new paint that arrived yesterday. It sure is nice to have it delivered. Early Christmas present from my mum.

On the DeSerres website I watched a video about Golden high flow acrylics. It was just what I wanted for my abstracts.

If you want to see some great paintings done with fluid acrylics look for them on Twitter #fluidacrylics.

Check out this amazing fluid painting. The first time he shook the circles I was like, ‘No! What have you done. So glad he kept them in the end.

I daren’t think how much all that paint cost and the amount that dripped on the floor. I have to try a mini version of this though 😀 who’s with me?

One a Day: Abstract

image

Purple wanders through the forest picking berries.

Orange lights a fire to keep purple warm.

Violet is his daughter, swinging from a tree while

Red and yellow share the sunset.

That was fun. I’ve been brainstorming ideas to combine an interview with poetry and I might do something like this with the answers.

First up is Charlie so I’d better get thinking of questions.

Strive to live outside the box today.

Have a great day!

More Abstracts

Before I take Sandy for a walk I’m going to share a new painting and one a few weeks old. From now on I’ll post whatever I create that day (probably the day after).

It didn’t seem to fit with #drawlloween so until then anything goes.

I do intend to try something new though I guess each painting is an attempt at that anyway. Outside of the box shall we say. If I can get consistent with that it would be a really fun tagline on the blog too and hopefully inspire others to think outside of the box.

I read somewhere the other day to just chuck the box away that sounds liberating too.

The above painting is for Phil’s wall at work. He’s taken it to work today to see what it looks like on the wall. So I haven’t varnished it yet.

And this one I did yesterday. It’s my favorite so far but not outside the box. Every abstract painter seems to do this.

Are you going to create something outside of the box today?

Have a great day!

One a Day: Orange and Green

Which way around do you prefer this painting?

or this

I did it super fast after watching an oil painter called Nicky Henderson on YouTube.

Check this out. What a fab tool he uses. I’ve been wondering how artists paint on a big canvas.

One a Day: Abstract Revision

image

I just couldn’t leave this one alone.

Totally inspired after seeing the art on the walls next to mine at the cafe. Gives you great perspective.

Off to hockey soon. You won’t believe it, first practise yesterday and Hannah gets stuck in the lift by herself. She’s been in there a thousand times. Oh dear!

Have a great weekend everyone!

One a Day: Rusty Car

image

I’ve been working on this for a few days in short bursts. It’s oils on canvas.

Remembering to have a board prepped in the background color the day before is hard.

It’s like what Ryan says about watercolors. You have to leave a wash to dry and start something else.

I’m going to have more patience and do that today following instructions from one of the books I got from the library. I fancy trying the fox.

Here’s the original picture of the car I found on Pinterest:

I want one it’s so cool!

Have a great day!

One a Day: Turquoise Abstract

image

I didn’t stay very long with the pastels before I threw paint all over it. Isn’t it liberating to do an abstract.

Tomorrow I’ve got a fun Fall project for everyone 🙂
